What are the challenges in choosing games, getting the students ready to play them, balancing game time with class time, and ensuring that the educational objectives you set can be reached? By examining a college course taught on the Rise and Fall of the Soviet Union using board games as a primary medium, we will answer these questions as well as discuss the challenges, benefits, and rewards of using board games as an immersive tool.
