Clinicians and mentors talk about why they use the Kids on Bikes RPG. Why we picked the game to be used in the office. Then aspects of the system that are natural connections for its use in therapy.
Description:
This spring we dusted off our bikes and took our kids on an adventure. Clinicians and mentors talk about why they decided to use the Kids on Bikes (KoB) tabletop roleplaying game in sessions, for training and research. Why we picked and played the game, online, in the office, and just for fun. We specifically discuss aspects of the system that act as natural connections for its use in therapy. Members of Gaming Approaches Towards Education, LLC, The Bodhana Group, and The Rolling for Change Podcast discuss how it has been applied for adolescents and adults, who are dealing with Social Anxiety and Autism, moderated by one of the creators of KoB Doug Levandowski.

The Benefits of Games for People with Autism in 2020
Summary:
As therapists, researchers, educators, and game designers we look at how being sheltered in has affected us, what positive changes did we make in it, and the barriers we had while switching to online.
Description:
There is no denying this year we have seen it all, everything from a Pandemic, Economic Crisis, and Protesting. On this panel are professionals who have been working with the Autism population through this all. We will examine how we showcase everyone’s strengths and work on building positive thoughts, feelings, and the ability to adapt to different situations all while using games online. As therapists, researchers, and game designers what positive impact were we able to make while being sheltered in, and the barriers some of us had while switching to an online format. We will review the uses of Roll20, Zoom, and programs like TheraNest in creating opportunities for education, and TeleMental Health.
