This hybrid combines the best of both worlds: the map/scenario from Diplomacy w/the rules of AGoT.
Description:
Why did I create this hybrid variant? I've been a longtime fan of Diplomacy but it takes a long time to play (10-12 hours) and half the games end in stalemate. AGoT provides the same intrigue, plays in 3-4 hours and the rules offer a richer strategic dimension. Unfortunately the map doesn't allow for Diplomacy's versatility of alliances. Lannister and Greyjoy seem like natural enemies. So I thought I would modify the Diplomacy map for the AGoT rules, make cosmetic changes to the AGoT rules to reflect an alternate universe WWI scenario (for example, communist rebels replace "Wildlings") and combine the best of both games. Historians will also love the National Cards (analog to "House Cards" in AGoT) that feature the generals and other military leaders of the First World War.
