The Orion Township Public Library has developed strong partnerships with the High School Gaming Club facilitator and a FLGS. This has led to many successful programs at the library.

This event will discuss how the Ukiah Library built their board, card and video gaming collection, and what we learned along the way. We will discuss how we inspired teachers, children, teens, families and underrepresented community members to come and utilize our collection. We will also discuss some of the tools we used that taught families how to game together through game nights, video game tournaments and the use of tabletop RPGs. This event is for librarians and educators who would like to learn how to build their own gaming collection and receive program ideas to run at their school or library.

The sessions will focus on how to build/work towards establishing a gaming community/ using gaming to build a sense of community. It will cover doing so at Local Friendly Game Stores, Schools and at community hubs such as public libraries. Conversations will be had in order to establish if audience needs any particular information or tips in addition to what is provided during the main part of the seminar. The presenter has 8+ years of experience working in two different 5 star rated public library systems, in addition to working with after school programs and running events at public venues and local gaming stores.
