Learn the fundamentals of pattern drafting by making a custom pattern for a Victorian corset. No sewing, just math & drawing.
Description:
You and your lab partner (bring your own, or a make a new friend) will help each other complete a measurement chart. Then, we'll learn the fundamentals of basic pattern drafting using one of the most feared and loved projects: corsets. Everyone will leave the workshop with a custom pattern for a traditional hourglass/Victorian corset. We won’t have enough time to make a corset from beginning to end, but we will discuss supplies in depth, and demonstrate the techniques you’ll need to complete your project. No sewing experience is needed for this project. We're interpreting your 3D body onto a 2D surface, so basic spatial reasoning skills and being fearless around numbers are a huge plus.
