In this advanced class we talk about the "why" behind what we do. What makes our artistic voices unique and how to stretch ourselves to be better. We'll talk about the stories our images tell and how to make them more compelling. The lessons in this class are applicable regardless of your experience level. You only need to bring your camera if you have specific questions, in which case please bring your camera manual as well.

Description:
All you need are your hands, and a few brain cells. By the end of the workshop, you will be able to embellish your stories like a true Dungeon Master. This is a chance to be silly, learn to beat the pants of everybody in charades, learn how to communicate, cheat on tests, talk behind your bosses back, and many other things. There are many ways can one use sign language anyway! We will learn the alphabet, some signs (participant directed) and classifier usage (the fun stuff that makes good gestures and your stories come alive). Come in and find out, all experience levels welcome, all hearing levels welcome. The more the merrier!

Make your very own shadow puppet with Jim Napolitano. Jim's work has been seen on Nickelodeon (Stick Stickley), Disney (Book of Pooh), and PBS (Between the Lions). Participants will create and perform simple shadow puppets with simple easy-to-acquire materials. Additional information will be presented that will allow further exploration of shadow puppetry beyond the workshop.
Express your artistic style in the form of Artist Trading Cards (ATCs). You can choose to keep your creations or swap with others. ATC blanks and sleeves are provided. Loaner art supplies available.

You may bring your own art supplies (markers, pencils, pens, glue, mixed media papers, ect.) or use the loaner art supplies available during the workshop. Due to the time limit, please do not bring paints or slow drying mediums. Participants are welcome to bring already completed ATCs to swap, create ATCs to swap during the workshop or simply just create ATCs to take home. Please be aware that this is a workshop open to ages 13+ so ATCs at the event must be appropriate for all ages. Keep in mind that participants may be at different levels of skill or practice, so come prepared to be patient and respectful of others.
